OPI Nail Envy Hawaiian Orchid - Review

If you haven't ever experienced the wonders that the original OPI Nail Envy does to your nails, then you are missing out. I've never found a base coat that even comes close to it!

Recently, I discovered that OPI's fantastic nail strengthener also comes in a few tinted shades - who knew! So I just had to try it out.

I picked it up in the form of this duo in a Mother's Day promotion on opi.com, two for one...bargain.

Onto the good stuff.....SWATCH!...

Above: 3 coats of polish, photographed in artificial lighting.

I don't know why but I really wasn't expecting to like this product as much as I did (perhaps because I thought it couldn't possibly live up to the original OPI Nail Envy). But here's a little run down for you of what I thought:

Formula: Amazing. Not to thick and not to thin. Pretty opaque with 2 coats, but I did three to avoid seeing lighter patches when holding up again the light (you know what I mean?!)

Colour: Stunning. A lovely dusky (dusty?) pink. I rarely wear nudes or pinks as I often find that they don't suit my skin tone. This colour is a game changer in my eyes. I can't get enough of it!

Staying power: Hard as nails when teamed with Glisten and Glow's HK Girl Top Coat. Lasted almost a week.

Effectiveness:  In terms of nourishing my nails and strengthening them, I would definitely say it did more of the latter. My nails felt super strong when I was wearing it and no breakages occurred - a miracle for me. As far as nourishing them, I can't say they felt particularly different, but this was after only one application, so this may not be a fair representation of what it can do in the long term.

Have you tried and of the OPI Nail Envy range? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I love the nail envy range. Matte is my fave but I also love the nude. I find they're amazing and well worth the money, my nails are always stronger and healthier when I'm using this.
